Match cutting width to lawn size: 30-35cm for lawns up to 250m², 35-40cm for 250-500m², 40-46cm for 500m²+. Larger decks cover more ground but are heavier and harder to manoeuvre around obstacles. For complex gardens with tight corners, a smaller, agile mower often works better.

During growing season (April-October), mow weekly. In peak growth (May-June), twice weekly may be needed. Never remove more than one-third of grass height at once. In winter, mow monthly if grass is still growing, raising the cutting height.

For most UK lawns, 25-40mm is ideal. Keep it higher (35-50mm) in summer to retain moisture and shade roots. Lower (20-30mm) creates a finer finish but needs more frequent mowing. Shaded areas benefit from slightly longer grass.

Mulching returns nutrients to the soil and saves time emptying bags. It works best when mowing frequently (removing small amounts). Collect clippings if grass is long, wet, or you want a pristine finish. Many mowers offer both options.
